Former two times Division 1 All-American and 2006 SEC Pitcher of the Year, StephanieVanBrakle Prothro enters her sixth season at the University of Alabama as the team's pitching coach. VanBrakle is one of the premier clinicians and instructors in the Southeast. VanBrakle had a stellar career as a player at Alabama from 2003-2006, leading the Crimson Tide to 3 NCAA World Series appearances.
In her first season guiding the Alabama pitching staff, Stephanie VanBrakle helped lead the Crimson Tide win the program's first national championship. Behind the right arm of Jaclyn Traina, the 2012 team rolled through the postseason, winning the Southeastern Conference regular-season title for the third straight year and then claiming the SEC Tournament title before advancing through the NCAA Regional and Super Regional rounds and finally capturing the coveted national championship. VanBrakle was instrumental in the development of Traina through her four seasons at Alabama. She is currently pitching for the USA National Softball Team and plays in the Japan league. In 2015, VanBrakle Prothro’s pitching staff threw two perfect games and a no-hitter while leading the SEC with a 1.92 ERA. Junior Sydney Littlejohn threw 2 perfect games and Freshman Alexis Osorio threw a no-hitter which was the beginning to one of the best freshman pitching seasons in Alabama history. Osorio finished the season as the SEC Freshman of the Year, a top three finalist for the NFCA Freshman of the Year and an NFCA Second Team All-American.
