Our 2016/2017 team has got off to an incredible start without a doubt. 10-0 in tournament play against 10 different teams. Our average runs allowed per game in 10 games is 2.2. These stats are incredible numbers this team put up and by doing so, they earned a bump in class from USSSA from the C level to the B level. We are extremely proud of this group for earning their way to the B class. We are so happy they were able to execute, win games and earn their way forward.
We are far from done and are still building for the future. We have suffered our share of defeat and have enjoyed some success since starting this team in 2013. Recently....its been nothing but success. But it was a long stretch from the World Series Championship in 2015 to the most recent tournament wins. And it has tested our players, their parents and the coaches through that time frame. Those that weathered the storm understand our premise and goals for these players and are the ones that are truly committed to this team. Sure we have cycled some players in and out in the 4 years we've been doing this. That happens in travel softball these days with so many new teams and places to play. Some are odd year players that can't stay with us year to year, others have had other reasons or priorities that prevent them from committing. And some just want something else for their player and the environment she is in. And of course we all know some just think the grass is greener elsewhere. Its just how it is.
Our premise is to keep pushing harder and preparing those athletes that want the most from this sport to the next level that they approach year to year. And this sometimes is not the same for every player on the team. So our coaches have to be dedicated, resourceful, open minded, educated in the game, and prepared for more than one goal for each player. And those goals, or stepping stones have to be approached differently but with discipline from the player and the coach. Our coaches are willing to put in the time and effort, and create the opportunity for each player that wants more and wants to get better. The player in turn has to be willing to commit to their personal goals and never stop reaching for them. When those are reached, keep pushing for more in order to be prepared to execute their ability when the team needs her to do it. She also had to do her part to help her team contend, every inning, every game. This takes commitment and dedication to the game and the team.
There's a lot of time between now and the spring when tournament season rolls around. A lot can change if you want it to. Or it can remain the same. If your player is looking for more and wants to see what our team is all about, come out and practice with us and maybe even play with us in a play day before winter gets here. We are seeking 1-2 more quality athletes that want more from this sport. We are seeking 1-2 players that are coachable, accountable, smart athletes that can bring at least one quality part of their game to our team. Be it hitting, pitching, defense, running (speed) or a combination of all of them - we want to take a look at that player. We have 9 full time roster players on our team at this time. So we are far from full. As we've said numerous times, we are a performance based team. Each player earns their position and playing time.
